SUICIDE: ERASING THE STIGMA
Mental health and suicide are a big part of my life. My family has a long history of depression, including me. I was diagnosed with chronic depression and anxiety when I was 14 years old, the same year that my mom had committed suicide.
Growing up, it was a common misconception that people with depression are weak. I was told that I am weak, I am being overly dramatic, and that I should just get over it. I didn’t want others to feel this way. I wanted them to know that they are not alone. I created this piece to combat the stigma of depression and suicide.
