NEW VENTURE COMPETITION
The New Venture Competition (NVC) is one of the most prominent events hosted by Central Michigan University. In the “Shark-Tank” style competition, students pitch their business ideas to a panel of distinguished judges who award over $100,000 in capital and in-kind services.
I work closely with the Isabella Bank Institute for Entrepreneurship (IBIE) to create the NVC campaign. I am involved in everything from branding to environmental graphics, publications, animations, web design, and even water bottle labels.
The institute was looking for a clean, corporate look but also wanted to entice the students. I created the diamond pattern to portray a sophisticated business aesthetic. The diagonal grid gives the design structure while allowing for fun imagery and youthful vibrance.

ENVIRONMENTAL GRAPHICS
We installed custom clings in the institute’s windows to promote the event. We also scattered signage on digital displays throughout campus. Branded window designs, sponsor banners, and wayfinding signs decorated the venue during the competition.

PUBLICATION DESIGN
The NVC booklet not only acts as an event guide but is also an essential part of the institute’s marketing plan. Inside you will find all the necessary event information, including the schedule, speaker biographies, venue map, competition rules, and prizes. Each team’s executive summary, financial plan, and website are featured and carefully reviewed by the judges. Following the competition day, the booklet sparks interest among future competitors, judges, donors, and sponsors.

MOTION GRAPHICS
March Madness was a big inspiration for the institute. The competition had three rounds with only a limited number of teams moving forward. The last two rounds were called the “Elite Eight” and “Final Four.” To hype up the crowd, bumpers played before the announcement of the proceeding teams.
